The things people ask before booking.
Typically around six metres from the vehicle, which is enough to work over a garden wall or a fence from the road. It is the first thing worth telling us about: where the heap is relative to where a lorry can legally stand decides whether a grab works at all.
No, and that is the main reason to choose one. The wagon loads itself, so you are not hiring an excavator and an operator just to fill a lorry. If you already have a machine on site and a lot of material, a tipper is usually cheaper.
Roughly two 8 yard skips' worth of dense material in a single load. That is why it works out cheaper for soil and rubble: you are paying for far fewer movements as well as a lower inert gate rate.
Usually not, which is a real advantage. The wagon loads and leaves within a couple of hours rather than sitting on the highway for a week, so the permit question that comes with a road-side skip mostly disappears.
Soil, clay, subsoil, hardcore, crushed concrete and mixed inert. Keep it clean of timber, plastic and packaging: contamination reclassifies the load as mixed at the gate and the saving goes with it.
